We believe that renewable energy is an asset class where it is possible to achieve long-term investment yield whist contributing to lower global carbon emissions.

For TRIG, investing responsibly is essential for us to maintain a sustainable business model over the long term. This goes further than our commitment to reducing carbon emissions through renewables investment but also includes other Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) considerations.

TRIG has four ESG goals which we seek to fulfil with every investment we make and as we conduct ourselves on a day to day basis:

  • Mitigate Climate Change
  • Preserve our natural environment
  • Positively impact the communities we work in
  • Maintain ethics and integrity in governance

TRIG’s Investment Manager, InfraRed has developed and integrated ESG analysis into its investment process to ensure that related risk factors and opportunities are considered.

InfraRed, is a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), supported by the United Nations. These principles provide a voluntary framework of six principles, which are incorporated into TRIG's  and InfraRed’s business:

  • To incorporate RI/ESG checks into investment analysis and decision-making;
  • To be active owners and incorporate RI/ESG controls into ownership policies and practices;
  • To seek appropriate disclosures on RI/ESG issues by the entities in which the investments are made;
  • To promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry;
  • To work together to enhance effectiveness in implementing the Principles; and
  • To report on activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

We are pleased that InfraRed has maintained an A+ rating, the highest attainable award, from the PRI network (https://www.unpri.org), for five successive years. InfraRed takes a leadership role in the implementation of robust responsible investment strategies through membership of the PRI Infrastructure Advisory Committee.

In addition, TRIG’s Operations Manager, RES, makes certain we understand how sustainability issues are addressed by our business associates and encourage our partners to adhere to the highest standards of corporate conduct throughout the portfolio’s operations.
RES has a culture where is also sustainability at the core of all of its business activity and values. They strive to create a culture where its staff can integrate sustainability into every part of its day-to-day operations and beyond. As a result, TRIG’s assets are managed in a way that reflects RES’s culture and its four sustainability principles: Business, Reputation, Environment and Social.
